Looks cool, though I don't have the skills for a DIY.
Some cool Carver stuff!

Back in the '60s there was a company HEATHKIT that was quite popular.
They sold around the world.

I never got a kit from them, but did buy a reel to reel from them because they had the "ship now and you pay us a dollar forever" financing.
A lot of servicemen I knew bought and built from them.
The guys in my radio room all put together nice stuff from kits, but they had more knowledge, and the time sitting/listening at the radios to build it.

My first "good" stereo was a Heathkit AR-1500. It still works but needs refurbishment, as the caps in it are 50 years old!

Beautiful, Bill! I have two of those (one I built in '74 right after coming to CA that gave me something fun to do evenings as I was renting a bedroom from a guy's - divourcee - home in Downey). The other I bought from ePrey for parts..... How nice yours looks with all the lights working....think I'll get some new bulbs for mine (the heart of my daughter's system....she loves the old stuff and has zero interest in any of the new mass produced crap available for the most part today...chip off my block... ).

Well, I'd sell it now, but not after refurbing it. It's only a 60 W/channel receiver, but there are a lot of my hours in there. The real walnut cover is a thing of beauty.

Is that an NAD Preamp I see in the back ground BillD ?

They were big when Carver was ! I like the simplicity of NAD. 8)

That's a stock photo, but mine's every bit as pristine.

Where is the 500w mono-block tube DIY kit?
In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.

The best way to enjoy digital music reproduction is to never listen to a good analogue reproduction.
