need parts for a carver C-1

Post by zobsky » Mon Dec 29, 2003 12:30 pm

Hi,

at low listening levels, the left and right channel volume levels on my setup are somewhat different. I have narrowed the fault down to my carver C-1 preamp. this problem disappears somewhat at higher levels but the balanece is never quite equal.

i'm guessing that the preamp volume potentionemter is going out on me.

while i'm going to shoot some more ciag de-oxit down the the volume pot in the near future, i fear that maybe the pot itself is bad. ... or could it be the opamps itself? doees the headphone output also use the same signal path as the pre-amp out? any troubleshooting hints?

in case the pot IS the issue, where can i obtain a replacement part and what is it going to cost me just for the part (if anyone has an idea), .. and while i'm at it, is there a superior replacement part i can use in place of the original pot.

thanks, vin
