TFM-22 problem

Post by kingman » Wed Oct 21, 2009 4:20 pm

Wondering if any of you can diagnose this problem. Left channel works good, right has static. when volumn is turned up past 9 0'clock position, amp clicks, and shuts down completely. Turn volumn down, resets itself and starts again. Anything a dummy like me can replace with help or is this a Rita repair?

My TFM 55 had the same issue. It is going into protection mode and the output transisters need replaced/repaired.

Thanks Tom...I was also wondering if it couldn't be the filter capacitors because of the static???

Replace the caps and go from there. I think I have transistors here for the 22 if you need some.

Well, transferring from Excel to ASCII text lost a couple of lines.

For the 4.7µF 50v caps where it says quantity 5, but only 4 are listed, the fifth one is C311. Where it says Buy 10, but only 4 caps are listed, the other 4 are C507-C508 and C511-C512. The caps were 17¢ apiece, but if you order 10, its $1.22 (.17 x 8 = 1.36).

Digikey and Mouser are the two best. I see the post from BillD has the digikey numbers already listed. That is spiffy =D> =D> =D> I will be printing a copy of that. \:D/ \:D/

Hi Kingman
I just capped a TFM-25 which I believe is the same amp with different meters. I used BillD's parts list and he and RichP helped me out on the project. I posted a write-up with pics on "that other site": http://thecarversite.com/yetanotherforu ... #post17768

Good luck with it !
