Welcome to the forum. That is a great cd player you have!

The only one that I know of that has the parts for those is Roland.

Thanks for the help. I spoke with Roland this week. He'll bring the unit to factory specs and switch out the tubes to Solvek.
I'm so excited, I must say!

When you get it back, let us know how it turned out. Post a pic or 2. Topless preferred! (cd player).
In reality, it only matters what it sounds like to YOU!!!

Hi Gunnar,
A late reply, but better late than never I guess.

The SDA-390t is a Denon machine with the added tubes. That means that this unit uses a standard Sony KSS-240A head and Sony transport. It is one of the most reliable machines on the market. Adcom used the same system but changed more in the way of controls and front panel.

The SDA-390t was my favorite Carver CD player, and I have one sitting in the family room playing away. I also have Carver motors and laser heads in stock, so CD players can be serviced here in Canada as well.

Remember, Carver did not design and manufacture CD players. These were made by OEM suppliers. So a Carver CD player can be serviced by most shops as long as it's a good shop and they recognize what the machine really is. As for the TL series machines, they are problematic. Also, the early Carver machines were made by Yamaha (DTL), I have parts for those as well and a Yamaha warranty shop may still have some of those older parts. Yamaha needed three motor changes to get the disc and feed motors right. Earlier ones have commutator problems (the motor kind with brushes).

Can this information be cut out and included in a "facts page" or something? I think it may save a great amount of grief and hassle for the members.
