TFM-25 needing repair

I am in the process of picking up a Carver TFM-25. It plays fine at low volumes but gets a little distorted and tinny at high volumes. Is this easily fixable? I know it has been mostly recapped. Prolly not been adjusted. I do not think any of the service bulletin updates have been done either.

Where can i get the Service Bulletins and the Service manual?

Thank you, I found that and a few other helpful posts. I can easily do the service bulletin updates. I just want to make sure it will be easily fixable by me. Just want to make sure its not bad outputs etc...

Well I put in the new transistors per the service manual. However, it is still not right. It will randomly go in and out of protection. On one channel the dc off set is perfect. On the other it is around 350mv. Also I can not seem to adjust either Idle current. When I connect the meter to the test points, it is exactly 0 on both channels. Guess it's back to the drawing board....

Hi,I had a problem With my TFM-45 with not being able to get bias voltage at the test point due to the adjustment Pot being dirty,and some bad solder joints on the amp boards around the bias pots(especially the Pot/board connection itself)Try a little deoxit on the Pots,and touch up any solder joints that look suspect.I've never worked on a TFM-25 so I can't be specific to your amplifier,But I did this to my 45 when was experiencing a similar problem and These steps solved the problem completely,bias is rock steady now.Hope this helps.Good luck!!!!
