Sunfire Tube pre dilemma

Me too. NOS Koetsu Rosewood.

In about 1982 one of the very best pre-preamps/head amps was the Counterpoint SA-2. It used 4 6DJ8/6922 tubes, not unlike Bob's mod. But it also used 3 more tubes for regulation, and rectification. As good as it could sound, it was some what unreliable. It took a lot of work keeping it working well, unlike Bob's designs.

Most audiophiles agree that an active head amp (especially tubes) is much more musical and involving than even the best step-up transformers.

Take a road trip to sunny Ottawa, and you can listen to it.
At the moment there is only one tube pre amp with the mod and
it's at my house, in Ottawa.

Dr W is trying to recreate it, I have sent him detailed info on the mod.
