I have a Carver 1.5t that works fine BUT when you take power from it it shoots a sudden power surge and pop's and can BLOW speakers. repair is my weak spot any thoughts? I have it hooked up to a switch to turn on/off or should I say give power & remove power!

Re: Carver 1.5t
I know that's a common problem with the m-1.0 and there's a simple cure for it (requires soldering) never heard of that with the 1.5 though. I'd unplug the speakers before turning it off its really bad or just leave the amp on. I'm sure someone here knows exactly what to do, good luck!

My free time is fading but still hoping someone has a cheap cure.

Re: Carver 1.5t
I just have the speakers turned off by pushing the button on the C-19 and then click the amp on and the preamp and wait for them to fire up before hitting the speaker button again......been doing that for years since I had that problem.

Re: Carver 1.5t
It sounds like one of the power supply capacitors might have lost some of its value. When you turn the unit off, one of the supply rails discharges faster, causing an imbalance and a thump. Caps are a huge problem on m 1.5 s. Replacements are available on e bay.

Re: Carver 1.5t
well i just finished up roberts m1.0t amp and now have some idle late night time on my hands again. just like him, for the experience alone and no extra charge, your costs would be the shipping and any parts you would like swapped out. i would think that the shipping both ways would be around 80-90 alone. i am sure other's could tell you how much the caps are for a recap, leds/5 way posts and what not by people that have done it already. so the olive branch goes out if you care for it. cheers angelo.
