Capacitors

I have the old caps out of my TFM-15cb.
They are 15000UF (M) 50V +85deg
I think their made by Mallory. Not sure though. Says Japan on them.
My question is can I use caps with a +105 deg rating ?

any cap of that value and more important the correct pin spacing should be fine.85c or 105c,doesn't matter sound wise, just how good the cap or how long i should say for it's expected life cycle.

THose look to be Panasonic caps. Yes, you can use 105ºC caps (in fact, you should). You want low impedance high ripple current caps for power supplies. If buying Nichicon caps, the PW series is good.

Definitely Panasonic caps and I agree with Bill, get the 105º version.

Mouser and Digikey are good sources for relays. They will also have the caps.

It looks to me that the 105ºC replacement cap is THIS ONE, but it might be too tall. You'll have to measure. THe exact replacement cap (85ºC) appears to be THIS ORIGINAL ONE. I'd say it's a toss up between the caps, because the original one has a higher ripple current than the 105ºC cap.

So' what's this ripple current all about anyways BillD ?
