CT-17 & M500T Lost MAX output / power range

Hi Everyone,
I need some help please.

I’m using a CT-17 pre amp with pair of bridged M500T amps.

After getting it back from repair shop – for replacement power relay, I was playing the system the other day, and noticed I could not get the volume I used too.

With cd, record, or dvd as source, I can move the volume dial all the way to max.

The amp’s don’t seem to reach full power – even the needles don’t register peak power levels.

Prior to the pre amp repair, with volume at about ½, amps would be louder with needles reaching close to max power.

In other words, I could drive the amps to their limit (just before clipping) now I can’t get to this point.

I’ve checked my wiring, even switched to just one M500T – same effect.

I’m not sure if the repair is tied to this or not. When I talked to the tech – he assured me the relay was an audio quality part with spec’s that are equal to the org relay.

Any ideas why I’ve lost the max power output or power range?

Try connecting your reciever to one of the amps if it has pre outs. If you have volumn then, it's probably a repair fault in the C-17.

Does the CT-17 have a gain switch? If so, sounds like it was turned to the lower figure.

I'll try running my amp thur the Sony AV rec and update post.

Tks for the answer on the gain control. Any chance there is one inside?

All is working as it should.

I switched amps to Sony AV rec outs - amps worked right.

Went back to amps thru CT17 and amps worked right.

I must have had a loose RCA connection and the unhooking and hooking corrected it.

Ain't it great when it's something simple!

Boy - your so right.

Because I had the power relay replaced - my next step was to go back to the repair shop for help.

That would have been a mess.
