Greetings all!
I posted this same question in the 'intro' section, but think it is better suited in this one.
Used to be a member here; I guess my membership lapsed after not logging in for an extended period of time. I've had a CT-17 for a couple years now and it's been working great, until tonight. I was watching TV and I noticed that the tuner 'window' went out. That is, blank. If I switch it to tuner there is no sound (obviously). The remote no longer works, but I can manually raise and lower the volume of the TV (video 1 input). Any ideas what the issue is? Did my beloved pre-amp just break? Is there someplace that can fix it? Thanks in advance!
Regards
Brian A.

Re: CT-17
Read all about it in the thread linked below.....I personally plan to send an amp to Bob & Rita for an overhaul sometime in the near future. Good luck !

Engtaz:
Thanks for the suggestion; I'm afraid it's more serious. I checked the fuse and it's good.
It seems from perusing various threads that Rolland and Rita are the two top people to send it to? If Rita charges a flat rate of $175, I'm not sure it's worth it. With shipping, I could probably buy a functional unit off ebay at a similar price point. Thoughts?

Re: CT-17
Brian, you might get a functioning unit off of eBay, but what you get back from Rita will be probably better than a new unit right out of the box. eBay is always a pig-in-a-poke. I'd go the repair route if it were me.
It should sound like it isn't there!

Re: CT-17
All:
I got a response from Rita's repair shop that the necessary parts to fix this issue is no longer available. I obviously trust that information, but could there be another aftermarket fix that might get my pre-amp up and running again???

Re: CT-17
If Rita said the parts weren't available, she must know the parts you need. It would be useful to know that if you want to scrounge parts from elsewhere, like another unit with a different problem than yours.

Re: CT-17
I went thru same kind of issue with my CT-17. Took to local high end repair shop and they fixed for labor + $10 or $20 part.
