"power doubling all the way down into stupid" I love it!

He also TOTALLY quoted my review in the text....

Nice looking amp. That's a lot of cash in this economy. I paid $2350 4 years ago...

It will be gone very fast! The only other one I've ever seen sold for $2500 in just a few hours. I just bought a 425x5 for $1400, not sure the extra 2 channels are worth $1,000.

Well, they're rare as hen's teeth, so that drives the price up. I'd LOVE another one, especially in that condition.

The needle on the joule meter is at or past the last notch.
Mine's right at the top notch.
I've always wondered if it was screwed up.
Anyone know the proper place for it to point?

it's usually 480 joules. That one reads a little high. It's an idiodic meter that does nothing...really. I wish they'd put a regular power meter on them.

Thanks for the info. I agree completely. It should have been power output, with a switch to pick the channel.

So how does this one compare to a Signature Series II 425x 5? Same amp with two more channels? Anyone know which came first?

Same with two extra channels.

Realize that the claims for output into 7 channels are impossible from a 15 amp circuit, or even the 15 amp fuse used in these. They'd provide said power into 2 channels simultaneously, and perhaps might be able to pull that on 4 channels, but there's only @ 1800 watts possible (continuous) from a 15 amp circuit of 120 volts. It's possible they'd pull the full load for a short (milliseconds) periods of time to all channels for a quick transient. I don't think there is ONE manufacturer that gives realistic specs into all channels on multi-channel amps.

If the 400x5 couldn't possibly pull this from the wall, a 400x7 certainly won't. Don't get me wrong, they are INCREDIBLE amps & you can't beat them for the $$$. All companies are slap happy when it comes to specs into 5/7/9 channels~

It's like playing the odds. What are the odds that all 7 channels (or 5 for that matter) would need all 400 Watts simultaneously? Considering musical or soundtrack sources, the answer is nil. But any one channel could require that much power at any given time (a crash to the left or a bomb going off behind you). Musically, it's not likely at all.
It should sound like it isn't there!

It's highly likely in Party mode~

One more tiny little difference between them.
The 400~seven doesn't have a current and voltage source connection for the center channel. Voltage source only.
The 5 channel Sig Series 2 has both.

This may only matter if you have a planar center channel and you might be able to achieve the same result with the right resistor(s).
