Anyone interested in HELPING to build up the main website ??

Post by Toy Maker » Mon Nov 26, 2007 8:55 am

Anyone interested in HELPING to build up the main website ???

There's a TON of work to be done, and never enough time to do it :-k

Must be able to work in MS FrontPage, as that's what the website is being built in. If interested in helping, let us know.

Thanks,

James

Let me know what your layout and template look like and I'll apply them to the new Specs and Pics page that I have been working on.

Here's what I have so far...
The main page was snagged from Carver's website years ago. I saved the whole site :)

I plan to keep going with the same type layout for now. If I come up with a better layout, I can update it later.

I thnk you had told me work in (code) mode... FrontPage is WAY easier, and can update a "theme" throughout an entire website including every page, with 1 click.
Start with this layout.. it's very clean, and will be fast and easy for me to update later if needed.

I don't have photos of everything either. I DO have ALLOT of the original catalogs Carver put out... TFM-75 has all those. Once he gets them back to me, I can scan each piece of equipment into it's own image, and they can be added into the pages later.

Make a page for each unit... and copy whatever text you have for that unit, and save the page as the model#.htm. That way I can move and copy everything to the correct folders quickly on the website later.
Here's how things look on my end of the site when I am working on it.... same as working in MS Explorer and Word basicly.

I'll ask my better half if she knows Frontpage. She studied web design and graphic design at university.

Shame I can't help. I'm studying C# with Visual Studio right now but got a huge project due in 3 weeks. I'm currently designing a web site and database for a hospital [-o< [-o< (virtual hospital)

Good luck

I have Dreamwaever and Flash... Every time I open them, they confuse the hell out of me.
I would REALLY prefer to use Dreamweaver for the site, if you wife is willing to give me a few quick lesons over the phone ?!?!
I am REALLY fast at picking up Software, once I know where to start.

If she is willing to spend a hour here, and an hour there, I would be very happy to switch over to DW.
I have looked localy, and have never been able to find anyone that knows it.
I know DW is WAY better than FP. It just happened to be FP I learned 1st.

Check with her, and see what she thinks.

Toymaker,

I will chat with her later to see what she thinks. Can't guarantee anything yet.

Phone will be a bit tricky. We are located down in Uruguay and we don't have a fixed line. Could be over the internet.

I know she studied for 2 years at university a few years ago. she's a bit rusty but I would really like her to get her teeth into a project again to keep her skills up to scratch especially as there seem to be certain movements at work in this area.
She studied the graphic design side, not so much the programming.

I let you know once I've spoken to her.

Cheers

Toymaker,

Sorry man. She doesn't remember enough to help you out. Didn't realise she'd forgotten so much :?

Way over my head, but you have my moral support. :)
Political Correctness...defined

A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Let me know if you would like your pages converted from Frontpage to Dreamweaver. I've been working in Dreamweaver for years and prefer it over many other packages I've tried. Frontpage is kind of like web design with training wheels. It is quick and easy but at the same time limits some of your options. It also bloats your code with a lot of unecessary stuff that only applies to Microsoft. Dreamweaver is not that hard, once you get the basics down. That and it will also FTP sync with your server, so you don't need a separate FTP program. Although I still use some FTP and SSH software because they are a little more robust for what I do.

In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.

The best way to enjoy digital music reproduction is to never listen to a good analogue reproduction.
