I would appreciate some help trying to fill the galleries with photos. I will try to get all the albums set up in the next day or so.
What I would like to do is, make an album for each unit, and start uploading photos to the correct albums.
This would be an ongoing project, that everyone can add to. I don't care where the photos come from, thay could be photos you took, or pix downloaded off eBay. As long as the photos are good quality, this should be a cool little collection of Carver equipment photos.

James, you have a PM; I tried to upload but it constantly told me the photos were too large (less than 1 MB each)

Could be the pixel size restriction Rabbit. I just uploaded 10 of mine to the carver gallery and it worked fine. Now I have to move a few to the right category

How come they have ONLY 16 of the big tubes intead of 20 like the ones on the opening page of the forum? They both have the 4 small tubes.

Dave, I think that we answered that one partially a few months ago. Seems like the 16 tubers are the real ones out there and that 20 tuber seems to be the real mystery.

I suspect that that might have been an engineering and marketing prototype that never saw the light of day. wish we could find someone who was at Carver back then to confirm what this really is.

A little backgroung on the Silver Six. It is Vacuum Tube Monoblock Reference Power Amplifier. They retailed for $12,000 a pair. Not too cheap. It is an all tube amp using 6 pairs of KT88/6550A tubes per channel. It is a dual chassis. Thats 4 seperate components total just ike the Silver 7 amp. It has a typical transformer output with 1, 4, and 8 ohm taps. Specs are 300 watts @ 8 ohms. 4 & 8 ohms @ clipping = 360 watts.

So, with only 12 tubes per chassis, it is not what is in the picture (20 tubes per chassis)

I think I may have found a clue to our mystery 20 tube Carver amp. I have a listing in the Carver Database for something called a Silver 7 Mk II which retailled (or ws supposed to) for $25K which $3K to $6k over the price of the original Silver 7. I have no other information besides the price and year of production which was after the original Silver 7 went out of production.

hehe, forgot to tell anyone....

While I was talking to Bob last night at 3:30 on the morning
I asked him about the 20 tube amp on the main page... he said it was a
"PROTOTYPE"

Note the base on the tube unit is too small, and the bezle is missing on the power unit.
