Greetings from Pittsburgh

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I should be getting my Carver rig this weekend thanks to a friend who pointed me in the direction of this board. Not sure yet what all I'll be getting (he could tell you better than I at this point!), but I'm excited about getting it all hooked up and giving it a test drive. Once everything is in and running, I'll report back. :-)

Welcome Pittsburgh from Charlotte, NC.
In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.

The best way to enjoy digital music reproduction is to never listen to a good analogue reproduction.

Re: Greetings from Pittsburgh

Welcome DJTommyK! You have joined a great forum.

Also being from Pittsburgh area I would like to let you know that we have a local chapter of the OCCD club. We try to get together once a month or so at Beembers417's audio shop and have a few beers, smoke a cigar and listen to some great music. If you are interested I will PM you the next time we get together. The next gathering will be shortly after Carverfest.

You can check out Beemers417 web site at www.vintagehifipgh.com.
Some cool Carver stuff!

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

thuffman - it's Beemers shop I'm talking about. ;-) We're probably going to be swapping some stuff tomorrow evening. I'll join you with a pipe instead of a stogie, but otherwise, sign me up!

Re: Greetings from Pittsburgh

Just got everything hooked up!

I guess it goes without saying that the components are Carver, aside from the turntables. In any case...

CT-24 Preamp/Tuna
TFM-35 Amp
TL-3200 CDP

My turntables are:
Thorens TD-180 and Realistic Lab 2100
(I'm probably going to switch to the Realistic as my main TT, because the Thorens has a mysterious motor hum, and is seems to be playing slowly)

Beemers will be glad to know that the first LP I played through the system is Pink Floyd: DSOTM O:)

It's all playing through Polk Audio Monitor 7B's. It sounds AWESOME! I can't wait to crank something up tomorrow!

The system on the rack:

Re: Greetings from Pittsburgh

Greetings, and glad to see you found our little corner of the web !!

Now that you have a few new pieces of Carver gear... you may want to try to make it down to CarverFest for at least a couple days, and see some of the rarest Carver pieces on the plant. It will be the 1st and last time they will be going to CarverFest, so don't miss it !!!

Bring something with you for Bob to sign as well, he seems to enjoy signing the pieces for people.
Whatever you do in life will be insignificant, but it's very important that you do it... because nobody else will.
