Hey All

Hey everybody.

I've been lurking here for a while and I figured it's time to say Hi.

I don't have much experience with Carver equipment, but I just picked up a SD/A-450 CD player a few weeks ago, and my father-in law owns an AVR-100.

I spent a little time down at Tom Zurcher's shop today (vintage hifi pgh) and got a remote for the cd player, and he recommended that I speak up on this board.

In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.

welcome, be careful, before long you're going to want an amplifier, and then another, and then ....

Oh trust me, I'm already wanting an amp and I'm looking into a pre-amp in the near future. Put that on top of my speaker fix (3 pairs of Polks in the last 2 months!!) and I'm in trouble.

Thanks for the welcomes all.


One of the first things that I've got a question about is I was wondering what everyone's opinion of the CT-17 pre is. I'm saving up money for a pre (I want a model with a remote) and I'm leaning in the direction of the CT-17....buuut I wanted to get some outside opinions on that before I rush into it.

The CT-17 is a very nice preamp. Make sure you get a remote with it though. Not all the functions are available without the remote.

I like the CT-7 as well for a remote capable two channel. I run one at home. :-k

lol paden i think we have caught the same bug, all my polks have been acquired since feb this year!

Welcom Paden - and boy are you in trouble, being so close to Vintage HiFi of Pittsburgh. It is very easy to get sucked into the OCCD den that Tom has created. I thought I was going to hyperventilate when I went into his shop. (And it wasn't all because of the Carver gear he has amassed.)
