Hello from a new Carver lover

Hi, my name is Sean, and I live in Washington, DC. I have recently discovered Carver products, and I am glad to find such a great web community to help me explore these products further. I am not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination, but I really enjoy good sound for both HT and music. I just wanted to introduce myself because I just got a used AV-806x, and I anticipate having a few questions about it. Maybe I can even ask one now. I got this amp for a steal, but the on-off button does not work - when plugged in, the amp is immediately on. Is this something I should worry about? Would it be a bad thing to just leave it on all the time, or, alternatively, to turn it on and off through a power strip. I apologize if this is a stupid question. If I find additional problems with the amp, I will probably send it to Bob Carver's shop in Washington State, since I see you can get a full overhaul for $200 flat rate. Since I got the amp real cheap ($235), I figure that may be well worth it. On the other hand, if it works as is, maybe I will wait until I experience problems. I apologize if these are somewhat stupid questions....I am a newbie afterall.

Welcome to CarverAudio. The best Carver forum on Earth.

You can leave it on all the time or do the power strip thing.

Welcome. As for as the power switch problem, just leave it on. You could try to open it up and fix it or you could buy one of those remote control sockets.
http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Remote-C ... B001AS4NQS you can get these anywhere and for cheaper then amazon.

Hello Sean and welcome to the world of Carver. I'm originally from N. Springfield, Va. Very close to your stomping grounds. We'll see you around campus.

The switch should be an easy fix. I would recommend posting your issue in the repair thread so it can be documented in the proper place for other folks who may have run into your issue.
In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.

The best way to enjoy digital music reproduction is to never listen to a good analogue reproduction.
