Hi, my name is Sean, and I live in Washington, DC. I have recently discovered Carver products, and I am glad to find such a great web community to help me explore these products further. I am not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination, but I really enjoy good sound for both HT and music. I just wanted to introduce myself because I just got a used AV-806x, and I anticipate having a few questions about it. Maybe I can even ask one now. I got this amp for a steal, but the on-off button does not work - when plugged in, the amp is immediately on. Is this something I should worry about? Would it be a bad thing to just leave it on all the time, or, alternatively, to turn it on and off through a power strip. I apologize if this is a stupid question. If I find additional problems with the amp, I will probably send it to Bob Carver's shop in Washington State, since I see you can get a full overhaul for $200 flat rate. Since I got the amp real cheap ($235), I figure that may be well worth it. On the other hand, if it works as is, maybe I will wait until I experience problems. I apologize if these are somewhat stupid questions....I am a newbie afterall.
