Re: Hello!
Welcome!!! What happened to the 700???

In reality, it only matters what it sounds like to YOU!!!
Re: Hello!
It’s the TL3300. I have a friend who had worked at Carver back in the day. As I understand it, only half the CD players made it through the "play through the night" test. This one was a good one as I owned it from new but now it does everything perfectly except play a CD. If I was to play a CD at home, I run it through the DVD player.
The 700 went up in flames three times. They (Phase Linear) certainly spent more money fixing it under warranty that they could have made selling it to me.
I had a Carver pre-amp in the 80's but don't recall which one.
I own a mid-sized sound company in the NYC area. My amp of choice is QSC. My big subs are powered by Powerlight 9.0 amps, considered a dinosaur by today's standards.
Does anybody have any info on the PCS 50 & 60 pre-amps? I've scoured the internet and came up with nothing whatsoever.

Re: Hello!
IIRC, the PSC-60 is just the pro version of the CT-6 (drilled for rack mounting). I've always wanted one, but have missed a couple of opportunities to get one at $100.
It should sound like it isn't there!

Re: Hello!
Thanks for the ideas guys and for making me feel welcome.
I suppose I'll need a remote for a CT-6 for my PCS60? I'm starting to think my PCS60 & PCS50 are kinda rare. I don't even recall how I came about owning them. I might have the owners manual for the 60 somewhere. The phono input on the PCS50 went, one channel at a time. These preamps are what I use when testing turntables. I re-furbish about eight Technics SL1200MKxx turntables a month.
kingman, to fully answer your question, I have no clue what happened to the PL700 from decades ago. I would imagine it's been recycled into a Toyota fender or something.
In the pro audio world, there's a few PM1.5's still out there earning pay. Various mods and component substitutions have been made to keep them going, some mods that make them better. Here's a tease for you Carver Heads:
