Whole System For Sale

Post by JRWV » Thu Jan 28, 2010 9:09 pm

I purchased my system back in the 90's but for the past 10 years I simply didn't have the space to keep it in an area where we could frequently use it. So it mostly sits idle leading me to decide to sell. Obviously everyone here appreciates Carver and for this reason I'm looking to either sell it here or get some advice about posting it on Ebay. I dont have a good sense for what its worth. I have the following:

Oak Amazing Silver (serial number 00608)
TLM-3600 Ten Disc Changer
CT-17 Preamp/Tuner
TFM-45 Amp
TD-1700 Cassette
Adcom ACE 515 AC Enhancer

I realize its difficult to truely know the quality by looking an a few pictures or reading text from someone you don't know but I'll tell you like it is...

There are very few marks or blemishes on any of the components and the fronts are virtually perfect. There is one small mark on the amp that looks like it may be able to be cleaned - but I can't be too sure and didnt want to use any harsh cleaners. It is right above the power switch and can be seen in the photo. Other than that, they are about as clean as you can get. The speakers and all components function perfectly. I have all the original boxes, manuals, and remotes. Also included is a spare 10 disc cartridge. One possible exception is the speaker manual and TFM-45 box. I believe I have them somewhere but need to do some looking. I am certain I have all others. And if you ever tried to move the speakers, you'll appreciate having those huge original speaker boxes.

The Adcom ACE 515 was really so I could switch the amp on and off with the remote - I wasnt so sold on the AC power enhancing but who knows, maybe that works too. It has relays for the amp and other components and does a staged startup. And as you know preamps rarely can start an amp of this power directly.

And shipping these is probably an option, albeit expensive and potentially damaging, so it seems its not a good option. I line in northern WV (near Mrgantown) and about 1.5 hours south of Pittsburgh, PA.

Please let me know if anyone is interested, wishes to test drive them, wants more pictures, or simply has advice on how much I should try to sell them for on Ebay. As much as I hate to part with them, I barely use them more than a few hours a year so its time for a new home.

Thank you
JR

I will say those are the clearest pics I've seen posted!

Does the 3600 have any "issues" in getting some/all CD's to "engage"? Mine does (at least for some homemade CD's).

Nice system....yes; where you located? Please say SoCal!

I haven't had any issues with the 3600 - or any of the components for that matter. Mostly played purchased CDs with the 3600 but recently burned a few and it played them without issue. I tend to use a Sony 200 disc changer more frequently simply because its a good place to store a ton of CDs. But thats no longer connected to this system - thats why I recently burned some new ones.

Yep, I like that approach as well and store all of mine in a 300 disc Sony (with an outboard DAC for better sound). I know this is compromise, but I love the convienence of never having to load or touch any of my CD's. The 3600 is used in my garage system and it has burn "compilation" copies from the 300 disc "collection".

What might you want for the tape player? (can PM me!). Thanks! - Ed
