Alas, at this time I have not yet acquired any Carver gear, after years of business and family preoccupations I finally purchased a pair of Infinity RS-5bs to run off my old Marantz 1250 integ. amp. After being totally amazed by the sound of this 30 + year old amp and 25 year old speaker combination, I immediately began searching CL and the auction sites to improve my set-up, while also doing general internet research on vintage audio. To me Carver seems to offer the best bang for the buck by far! I'm currently looking at a C-1 preamp and a M-1.5t amp. Would these components make a good combination? It certainly has the power to drive anything I'm likely to come up with. I was excited to find this site it is a great resource for noobs like myself. Thanks for all the help you've already given me.

WELCOME~
What speakers/configuration would you be driving with that combo amp/preamp? Same Infinity models?

At least initially it would be these Infinitys, but as my circumstances allow, maybe a bigger vintage Infinity pair or perhaps Maggies.

I would love to get those Kappas! Unfortunately upgrades like that are down the road for me, my wife thinks my present Infinitys are too big! BTW do those Kappa's have the Watkin's woofer? And if so have you had any problems driving it?

Hello and welcome to the Carver forum. The C-1 and the M1.5t are a great combo but I'm not altogether positive that the M1.5t will properly power the Maggies. The others I believe you'll be fine with.

Welcome, first rule of thumb, no speaker is ever to big. Speakers smaller than a small door are for your computer, or maybe your answering machine.
