New Member Says Hello

Greetings!

New member here - Followed a thread from Audiokarma to find you guys. I'm here to find out more about my very first Carver piece, which is a PM200 amp. I'm not a tech, just an audio enthusiast who likes to implement a tweak or two. I'm listening to the PM200 now while I search for info on it. Right now it has an Adcom preamp GTP 500II hooked up to it and a couple of newly re-foamed Infinity RS5000s. Have no idea if this is a good match for each other yet - maybe someone has some suggestions about what to mate the PM200 to. It probably could benefit from a re-cap at this age, yes?

I understand Bob Carver's technology was a little different, to say the least. I'm looking forward to learning more about it.

No prob. Gotta have a sense of amusement , especially these days. I appreciate being welcomed, & thanks to everyone!

But the thread has kinda been hijacked, so if I may re-request hearing from anyone who has any experience updating the PM200? It's an old piece with not much backup on the net. I did AB it with my Marantz 2245, and the PM200's sound is a little thinner, which makes me think it needs a re-cap. But it's the first Carver piece I've had, so there's nothing else to compare it to.

It's really great to be able to connect with this group to learn from, and I'm in the process of learning to get around the site, so excuse me for any redundancies.

You haven't gotten any responses about the 200 because there are VERY FEW folks here who've heard one, let alone own one. There are a couple, however, and this is a small forum, so it may take a while to hear from them~

I appreciate getting that perspective, and hope my quest for information doesn't appear overly single minded. I'll just mosey around the site and see what turns up. It's my first and only Carver and I just figured it would be well known on any Carver website. I have no idea how old or rare or good or bad the 200 is. Sounds like it might be prehistoric or a totally different genre.

No, it's just one of the lower models & we all tend to lust after the MORE POWER models~
