Re: Happy camper

Guys . . . thanks for all the great advice. Bill I am surprised that the DACs are better than the TG . . . but then again I have heard nothing but great things about the Oppo players. The Web is full of reviews, praise, discussion groups, etc.

The Oppo SE is $899 (I believe) since I live in Canada, how much would the load be for taxes, duties, shipping, etc? I am guessing 30 - 40 percent, but I am really not sure.

If it is this much, I end up with a $1200 - $1300 player. Not sure I can swing that or not as I can get the Denon for $668.

Hmmmmm . . . . will have to think about this some more. Thanks again for all the advice.

Well, it will ship direct. There's NAFTA.

Re: Happy camper

Thanks Bill. I will have to do a bit more checking on this.

Shipping to Canada is $65. I believe I also pay 13% HST (Tax) at the border and likely some duty and other fees. I checked into the duty some time ago when I was going to buy something from Ebay and think it was around 10% on electronics. Exchange is also about 5 or 8 cents on the dollar. I would also likely buy the extended warranty (as my lasy player died).

Seems I am in the 1300 - 1500 range once I get the player here. Kind of sucks to be in Canada . . . Lastly NAFTA is a joke . . . I am not sure individuals get any benefit from it; however I wil make some calls before making a final decision.

Perhaps I settle on the 83 instead of the 83SE to try and keep the total down.

Re: Happy camper

I think you can buy the 83 on Amazon.com.

Re: Happy camper

Well, the $499 is MSRP - which is a good deal with free shipping. The $1136 is a bit ridiculous in that you can get it direct form Oppo for $899.
