new carver owner

Hello from Ontario, Canada ! New Carver owner and new to the forum as well . I just bought a tfm 35x amp on the polk audio forums and was wondering what carver pre-amp to use with it. I would prefer one that has a remote. I'm really looking forward to trying this amp out, I've read a lot of good things about it. It will be powering my polk monitor 10 B's.

any suggestions ?

The C-6, 16, 17 & 19 are excellent models & I'm pretty certain all have remote capability.

Welcome to the fourm.

The C-6, C-16 and C-19 do not have remotes. The C-5, CT-7 and CT-17 are very nice pre's that do have remotes.
Some cool Carver stuff!

First of all WELCOME!!!! =D> =D> =D> The 35 is a great amp! I'm sure you will be pleased with its more than ample performance. As for a preamp, I love the C-11 because its' a simple redesign of the C-1 and matches the 35s' appearance. If you want something with a remote, the CT-17 has it plus alot of other features. No matter which way you go, you've started in the right direction with Carver products.
In reality, it only matters what it sounds like to YOU!!!

Welcome ! A lot of the pre's with remote controls are combination units which also have an AM/FM tuner. The CT-6 "pre/ceiver" usually sells fairly cheaply on ebay ($100-$150) :)

I would go for a C-5, which is also dual source/dual zone, or a CT-7. Both are nice and remote capable.

How about a CT-28v? It would also match the TFM35 and is 6-7 years newer than what has been suggested. :-k

i finally picked up the amp, hooked it up and thought the bass sounded a little thin. But it is warming up now and is sounding better. Listening to led zep. No quarter sounds pretty good. I'm gonna try Supertramp "crime of the century " next. need a carver pre now. I'm just using my JVC HT amp as a pre right now. I'm sure that will make a difference. LOVE the glowing meters! :D

Welcome to the Carver forum Tony and congratulations on your new amp. I am curious, how do you have the JVC HT pre hooked up to the system? I take it that it has pre-outs?
In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.
