Carver MV-5 Questions

I have one of these but no remote or literature.

I think it sounds great in spite of all the bad reviews I've read.

It says on the front panel BiDAC and I was curious which ones it used and if they are considered any good?

Also given the multidisc transport am I suffering any sound quality degradation?

Would I benefit from an external DAC?

Does anyone else have this model and what do you think of yours?
