Newb with a 390T

Hi there Carver people. I am a total Carver / audio newb, more of a guitar / amp guy and general music lover.

I just got a 390T that is in nice shape. It even came with 2 Amperex Holland ECC88's! I cleaned it up a bit and it's working great, but the carousel is pretty dang noisy. Does anyone have any tips on how to get it quiet again?

WELCOME!!! My 390t Does the same thing! should have gone for the single Disk over 5 Disk, oh well...

It is pretty amazing that the 360 5 disc I have is fairly quiet changing between discs? Why did Bob not use this transport in the 390t?

Thanks for the welcomes and insights everyone - as a newb I appreciate it! So I guess we just live with the noisy carousel, eh? A charming idiosyncracy of the model?

I finished cleaning it up last night and it sounds pretty dang good to me. Of course, my ears are not the best from playing live music over the years, but it seems to have a nice large, open and warm sound that my other CD player lacked. I am a big fan of tube guitar amps over solid state stuff, so I may be a little biased with regards to tube stuff.

The date on the back indicates it was built in April of 1993. Also, poking around the site here I see it should have a remote control- guessing those are not easy to locate as mine did not arrive with one... hmmm.

That remote is hard to come by. It is the only way you can use the variable outputs on the back.
