Hello and need help with recent purchase
Just joined. Of course, I need some help.
I've had Carver items before, and had a killer system on my last boat, which was a "Carver" as well. Had the reference CD, a TFM 45, etc.
I just bought a set of silver ribbon speakers, and MXR130 integrated receiver, a CT-Seven preamp receiver, a M-4.0t amp, and a small "Loudspeaker Control System" which does not appear to have an identifying model number on it.
I have questions on the small speaker system box. Is this something that came with the ribbon speakers? It appears it would be connected between the preamp and amp. Can somebody tell me the Carver model number for this. How about some comments on its usefulness.
The speakers connected to the M4.0t and CT-Seven, is awesome. Everything is great. Very happy. And for what I paid (you'll die - $240.00 plus tax put it at just under $255.00 at the local resale shop for everything), I should care less about the MXR130. But it won't work. I hook up the speakers, turn everything off and volume down, plug it in, turn it on. All I get is the two meters' red lights are lit, and the display only has the word "CARVER" illuminated. No matter what input I select, nothing happens. I can turn the volume knob full clockwise and back, and no change in the meters. It's as if the display has lost its power.
I read the service manual on another website, and the cure for a "dead" unit, or intermittent am/fm display, is to clean some components on the back side of the display.
Should I give that a try?
Any other ideas?
