Hello all. Im about to buy a carver pm 1.5 amp to run my rti a9 speakers. I was wondering is there anything I need to be concerned about using a pro amp on home speakers? These speakers are rated 90db eff. and can handle 500 watts peak. Any advice/info will be gladly accepted.
Re: Newbie here
Check to see if it has RCA's or just XLR's like most of the pro amps.

Welcome!!!!
...A few guys use the pro amps in home situations. I have a PM 1.5 I used for awhile and if you can get the fan quiet enough, it works great. I sprayed mine down with a little WD-40 on the bearings and shaft and had no problems. A lot of good things to be said for the M-1.5t also. Enjoy the hobby at whatever level you wish! Use your good judgement and seek the knowledge of all before you.P.S....The amp should ROCK those Polks!!!!In reality, it only matters what it sounds like to YOU!!!
Re: Newbie here
WELCOME!!!
I've never owned any of the PM amplifiers but the M-1.5t is one of my all time favorites, the TFM-42/45 is a very close second. Keep in mind though that most Carver amplifiers are in need of reconditioning to sound and work like new, atleast for any real length of time, as some are approaching 30 years of age. I ran Carver amps for years but have since switched over to Sunfire and I couldn't be happier. Good luck!Sunfire TGP-III, 200x5, Signature Sub, Bob Carver Black Magic VTA 20, Klipsch Modded Chorus II's, Grant Fidelity: TubeDAC11

Re: Newbie here
Welcome to the forum! I wonder if Brock still has his 4.0t for sell? That would be Kick Ass! Maybe PM him. Here is a link to his post > http://www.carveraudio.com/index.php/forum
Re: Newbie here
What the hell is going on? I checked my link and it is all screwed up and now everything is all cut off on the right side, here try this copy and paste.
I decided to part with my M4.0t.
I'm the only owner. Some scuff marks on top nothing major. A small nic on top edge. Otherwise a pretty clean unit. Has not had anything done to it. All stock parts. I have never had a problem with it.
Will try and post pics later.

Re: Newbie here
I have some pro stuff.
As a general rule it is tougher made than home stuff.
The down side is that some of it uses 1/4 plugs. There is no real reason to get into all that interconnect change over if you have a choice.
Still, I have some nice PreSonus stuff. I have some Rane, but it uses balanced -
