Newbie trying to connect CT-17 with Bose 901

Hi, I have not been very successful at connecting the following components that I got from my dad. I am hoping someone can help, because I've downloaded the manuals and still can't figure it out. Main components:
Carver CT-17
Carver TFM-25
Bose 901 speakers and equalizer

I have the CT-17 Pre-Out connected to the Bose 901 Amplifier input. But the CT-17 only works in CD Direct mode and I can't get the FM tuner to work. I have tried connecting to the CT-17 Ext Proc or Tape 2 Out, but it either doesn't work at all, or I lose volume control and the sound is blasting.

I'd like to connect a CD player, Sony TV, FM antenna and iPod to the CT-17. It seems like I need to have the right connections, as well as have the correct controls on front, and I don't know where I've gone wrong. Can anyone help provide connections and front panel settings that would work?

Hello. Just take the main output RCA from the pre to the Bose input and the output the amplifier input.

That's how I have it now, but I can only get the CT-17' to produce sound when the input is set to CD Direct. Other inputs like Tuner or Video1 don't work.

uh, if I read it right, cd direct means cd to volume to amp. nothing else like balance ,bass or treble work as it is the minimum circuit you are after for the clearest sound. otherwise, it is funked up. when you put the bose into the processor loop, removing the jumpers, what happens?

Sounds like you have your tape loop engaged.

I got it working! I hooked up the preout to the amplifier and connected the Carver CT-17 ext proc in/out to the 901 equalizer in/out. Now all the components are working.
