I live just outside Louisville and am fairly new to audio. The system I currently have consists of a pair of cherry 180's, Emotiva xsp1, oppo 105 and some Gallo Classico 4 towers.

Thanks for having me!

Paul
Sounds like a pretty nice set up. Welcome!

Oh....nice!!

Have you had big tube amps before or are these your first?

I'm not familiar with that particular model of Gallo speaker. Can you fill me in on those? How did you come into those or select them? I did see and hear a couple of his original round ball based speakers at shows many years ago and was pretty impressed with them.

Thanks for the pics!

Here ya go, Mark:

Classico CL-4 Loudspeaker

The Absolute Pinnacle of Classic Sound

The CL-4 is our top-of-the-line Classico offering. If you are searching for a "forward-thinking retro look" (yes, we mean that) with no compromises on sound anywhere, then the Classico CL-4 is your ticket. The real wood veneer cabinet sports four (yes four!) 5 1/4" damped carbon-fiber woofers, combined with our astonishing CDT-3 hemispherical tweeter to produce sonic perfection. Powerful, deep and detailed bass; superbly open lifelike midrange; and clear, natural highs all combine to present music and soundtracks that are as true to artistic perfection as possible. And again… just look at it. This is the one you want.

"The CL4 offers excellent room integration and definitely achieves what Gallo set out to do: deliver the performance Gallo is known for in a more conservative styled package."
Chris Groppi - Secrets of Home Theater

Priced Per Speaker
$1,247.50

There is no better speaker in its class. The CL-4 embodies all of the unique technologies developed by Anthony Gallo for the Classico series including BLAST bass loading, modified transmission line enclosure design, S2 internal damping, OPT Level 2 and the Classico ultra-high performance damped carbon fiber woofer/midrange driver. In fact, there are four of these woofers, along with our amazing CDT-3 hemispherical tweeter. They combine to give the CL-4 a sound that must be heard to be believed. With a real wood veneer, the solid wood cabinet lends a depth to the sound that is unparalleled. You’ll feel the build quality as well as hear it.

Ok, let’s talk about the sound for a second... it’s as deep and warm as you expect, with a clarity that can only come with the right equipment and technology. The realism of what you hear will make you yearn for more – indeed, these speakers will have you listening day and night, as if you’ve never heard music before. And as the front end of a home theater setup, they shine equally well. Bottom line: The CL-4 will change your perception of what an exceptional floor standing "against the wall" speaker should look like and cost. If you consider yourself a "Classic" and are finally ready for that high-level audio system, get yourself a pair of CL-4's today and be ready to be transformed.

Thanks Gary. His original designs centered around that round ball look. I was surprised to see a more convential box design under the Gallo name.

But those specs mention the transmission line design and I recall that as used on the follow up speaker with the two round balls with the big woofs on the side. I believe that was also a transmission line.

TL's can pack a punch when done right and kept within their limits.

I originally wanted a pair of Gallo reference Strada and a sub because I had a small room. About this time he came out with the Classico series and the Classico 3 was getting rave reviews and won several awards. It was a small full range speaker that I could make work. I called a dealer to get a pair of them and he had a set of the Cl-4 that somebody had ordered and ended up not buying so he offered them to me for the same price . In a medium sized room these will go deep, incredible for their size. What I really like,is,with the CDT tweeter there is huge sweet spot, you can sit about anywhere in the room and have little loss of quality.
