Just wanted to say hello. I stumbled onto this forum while searching for someone to repair a popping sound in the tone circuit of my C-1 preamp. I found Rolland in the same search and have sent him the C-1 and my M1.5t for a checkup and repairs if required.
In 1985 I decided to retire my Mac 1700 receiver and Altec A7-500s for a Carver M1.5t, C-1, and TX-11 powering a set of ADS L-1230s. In the 90's I retired That system and went to a 5.1 system using a Yamaha receiver powering Definitive Technology's BP-2000s and surrounds. 5 years ago I retired that system to the garage and went with a 7.1 system using a Denon 4802-R AV THX AV receiver powering a set of M&K-150s with 4 surround S-150s. This is my current system for home theater.
For a time I used the Carver System to power the BP-2000s in the garage, then the dreaded "popping" noise would send my amp into protection mode so I quite using it and went back to the Yamaha to drive the speakers.
Last month my youngest daughter moved out on her own leaving us with a totally empty spare room, that I have claimed as a hobby room. So inside come the Def Techs and Mac and the Carvers. I hooked up the Mac 1st and it sounded awful. I was purchased in 1967 and probably needs to be serviced. Then I hooked up the Carvers and the Def Techs came alive. I then remembered why I purchase them in the 1st place, and decided to have someone fix the preamp so I can use the tone circuit and enjoy the sound. I now can hardly wait for the amp and preamp to return from Rolland.

Welcome glass car,
I'm sure you'll be tickled with Rolland's work.

You found this forum exactly how I did. Just stumbled upon it one day.

Anyway, glad you finally found us and welcome to the forum. Congrat's on the "hobby room"! I'm kind of curious as to how you came up with your user name. Did you just make it up on a whim or is there a cool story behind it?
In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.

The best way to enjoy digital music reproduction is to never listen to a good analogue reproduction.

Yes Glass Car, welcome to the forum!!! Some guys on here are absolute novices, some of them are older and wiser and everyone is highly opinionated! Things can get crazy and weird at times which probably makes this one of the most enjoyable places around. Feel free to ask questions and watch the fur fly!!!
Why let facts or common sense get in the way of your opinions.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. As to the user name of glass car... some of you guessed it. I own a corvette and belong to a corvette forum also. When prompted for a user name for the corvette forum, glass car just came to mind.
As I mentioned my new hobby room is waiting for my carver gear to come back from Rolland, I am currently running a Sony receiver to power my speakers in the room. My next plan is to finally build the Pocher Fiat and Bugatti models that are waiting in their boxes. I have never had the room to lay the models out and get organized until now.
Again Thanks.
