Hi Neighbor
Yes, I worked for eight years in the Division of Engineering Services. We assisted the research efforts in the six colleges of engineering. Done a few other things since then.
I finally graduated from work and am having a blast living on the lake and traveling in our RV.

I'm curious as to whether you ever solved your ribbon problems......?

Re: new member. Am using Carver speakers only.

Yes.
I used a heat gun and went back and forth over the areas where buzing was suspected. The gun was always in motion to prevent damage from exessive heat. I knew the yellow plastic used could take a lot of heat, but not the adhesive for the metal ribbon. We used the plastic film in tape form as insulation for solenoid coils that got super hot. It is also used for voice coil forms.
Exactly how it cured the problem or what happens at the heated sites I am not sure. I read somewhere that heat solves the problem, so I tried it and it worked.
Be cautios if you try it. Do a little bit at a time and then check for the cure.
I am leaving on a trip so I won't reply for about 3 weeks if necessary.

Ribbons are still working great after heat-gun treatment over three years ago. Have mounted two shorter ribbons for surround speakers in 12 inch diameter round concrete forms from LOWES. Filled with fiberglass. Works great and has same voicing as main large front ribbons.

Just a little FYI....
The way you have the ribbons mounted, they are backwards. This is putting them out of phase with your front speakers, which in turn I'm sure is causing some kind of cancelations.
Easy fix is to swap the lead wires at the amp to put them back in phase.

Enjoy.
