Welcome to the forum!!! Central is around 20 miles from where I live...are you associated with or attending Clemson?
In reality, it only matters what it sounds like to YOU!!!

Hi Neighbor
Yes, I worked for eight years in the Division of Engineering Services. We assisted the research efforts in the six colleges of engineering. Done a few other things since then.
I finally graduated from work and am having a blast living on the lake and traveling in our RV.

I'm curious as to whether you ever solved your ribbon problems......?

Re: new member. Am using Carver speakers only.

Yes.
I used a heat gun and went back and forth over the areas where buzing was suspected. The gun was always in motion to prevent damage from exessive heat. I knew the yellow plastic used could take a lot of heat, but not the adhesive for the metal ribbon. We used the plastic film in tape form as insulation for solenoid coils that got super hot. It is also used for voice coil forms.
Exactly how it cured the problem or what happens at the heated sites I am not sure. I read somewhere that heat solves the problem, so I tried it and it worked.
Be cautios if you try it. Do a little bit at a time and then check for the cure.
I am leaving on a trip so I won't reply for about 3 weeks if necessary.
