my newest addition

Post by angelod307 » Tue Aug 23, 2011 9:53 pm

hey guys, i built these cabinets and used the ribbon tweeters with some 6.5 mid woofers in a ported box. terminals are not here yet. i think i will bring these instead of the big ribbons. is anybody else bringing some al3's? they sound really nice. i am at aw of them. can't wait to hear the 13 driver version.

the drivers are the latest offering from oz audio before they went chapter 11. the x-overs are from the model year prior from oz. 6.5 two way with the tweeter at -6db and also 180 out i found sounds awesome. if you play them full range, the bass boost on the tgp4 to 6 and oh my, you start to forget it is only a 6 1/2 inch woofer. i can just imagine what 26 ribbons with a shit load of mids is gonna be like. the ones i have are so very clear in the midrange that they do have a very simular quality to them like my al3's.

That is off the charts.

I am eager to hear them.
I bet the next set will be even better than these now that you have more experience.

You should put this set up for sale really cheap at CarverFest so guys like me could have a shot at hand crafted things like these. 8) 8)

I like those subs. I have a Treo TE 10" sub in my car with a 750 wpc @ 2 ohm amp and it POUNDS.

I can only imagine to 15's driven properly in my house

They look really good, Angelo. What crossover point do you use between the bookshelf & sub?

at the moment, 80hz with the tgp4. but with the clearwater crossover that i got with the 60" ribbons, it crosses i think around 150 and the woofers are in stereo. i think the 2-15"'s with the sonic frontier pre, jolida cd, and the 400 seven and the speakers with a sonic holigram c9 on the mini's is what is gonna be it. still no power conditioner yet, the guy from canada backed out. i might do with out.

Power conditioners.

Eh, they are overrated anyways.
In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.

The best way to enjoy digital music reproduction is to never listen to a good analogue reproduction.

I have been thinking about making a center channel speaker using that driver to go with my AL-lll's . Do you think they match up well?
