need repair help or advice sunfire signature sub

Post by Miko1971 » Sat Dec 06, 2014 11:06 am

Hello,
Bought a Signature Sub off eBay and the guy didn't package it up very well. Hooked it up and it played very weak for about a minute. Went in the other room and my GF says she smells something funny. Go back and grab it and the rubber surround was super hot to the touch, yank the power cord out and now its dead. any idea how much a new woofer is or if they are even available? was going to send the plate out to Bill. I filed a claim with UPS, but the seller only insured it for 300.

im hoping he will refund the 200 difference and then i could try to rebuild this bad boys because i like seeing shit fall off walls and what not!

Thank you,
Miguel...

I'm not positive, but I don't think the drivers are available anywhere.
Tom at vintage hifi have swapped a bunch of sunfire drivers for JL drivers and swarms by them!!
Maybe try giving him a call, I he's answering his phone yet... He was in the middle of rebuilding his home/work shop.

I think he was using the W-6 or W-7 drivers, and said that he liked the JLs better.

Might be a lot more than the woofer that needs work.
Talk to Bill Flannery.

Don't expect much from United Parcel Smashing, unless disappointment is what you like...
