Re: Anyone read this?

That strange little pyramid thing is a chip amp, no power supply. You supply the DC voltage.
It should sound like it isn't there!

Re: Anyone read this?

Thirty years ago Carver rocked the world with a tiny amplifier capable of amazing output and performance. That tradition continues today with the Microblok 1.5 - Carver’s first amplifier designed for the new frontier of multi-room audio video and media distribution.

The Carver tradition of innovation continues
The unique Microblok form-factor is based on a straightforward audio design principle: heat and quality amplification do not mix well. The unit’s precision, all metal case is an integrated heat-sink assembly designed to keep the amplifier cool under extreme-performance conditions — such as when reproducing a demanding video soundtrack.

Under the hood, the audio excellence continues. The Microblok’s complementary, precision-matched bipolar output devices are configured to deliver the no-compromise low-frequency performance usually associated with much larger amplifiers. And the “big amplifier” listening experience is assured by the use of four separate amplifiers in dual-bridged mode instead of the usual two, which dramatically increases audio output power and headroom while requiring less standby power. An advanced, on-board electronic surge protection systems guards against high-voltage spikes.

A high-end solution for any quality personal listening need
Thanks to its efficient design and high output capabilities, the Microblok is a true integrated amplifier with everything needed for playing an audio source through a pair of high-quality speakers: separate bass and treble controls, a balance control, and a volume control. The presence of tone controls are an especially useful feature with installed ceiling or in-wall speakers since they benefit the most from tonal compensation.

The Microblok’s small footprint means it can be used in any application where high-performance sound is desired: with computer sound cards, MP3 players, or mini-systems connected to premium loudspeakers. It is ideal for use in master bedrooms, living rooms, and offices as a local zone amplifier for installed in-wall or ceiling speakers.

Install a Microblok and two in-wall speakers around a fl at-screen TV, run the audio output from the TV or a local disk player or media box into the amplifier, and create an instant personal theater perfect for the most demanding entertainment sources. With its 13VDC outboard power supply design, the Microblok can even be used in automotive and marine applications where DC power is present.

Built like we used to, in the great Pacific Northwest
The Microblok is precision-manufactured in the Pacific Northwest in the Carver tradition. And like the first Carver products, it is the kind of versatile flexible and innovative product that gets installers and system designers thinking about how to use it every application and any location. It doesn’t just provide a solution — it creates audio/video system possibilities. In that respect, it is a worthy successor to thirty years of Carver audio ingenuity.

Desktop high-end listening
If you spend a lot of time in front of a PC, why waste it listening to plastic “multimedia” speakers? Combine your favorite mini-monitors with a Carver Microblok 1.5 and get high-end sound from your PC.

Unleash the sound from your iPod® or other media player
Want to share what’s on your iPod? There is a much better solution than a sound-dock: your favorite mini-speakers and a Carver Microblok 1.5 amplifier together for a great portable audio system ideal for patios and entertaining.

Perfect audio, one zone at a time
Got a bedroom or other zone with a TV and pair of in-wall or ceiling speakers? Plug in a Microblok for an instant theater using any local source such as a DVD player, flat-screen TV, or cable box. A true integrated amplifier, Microblok lets you adjust volume, bass, treble, balance for optimizing the local listening experience.

Audiophile listening on-the-go
Need premium sound for your car or boat? The 13VDC Microblok’s is compatible with DC electrical systems right out of the box. Use it with outdoor speakers for a great-sounding portable/mobile audio system.
