Insurance Replacement Help M500T & C1

Hi Everyone,
I’m looking for some help please. Anyone gone thur this in the past? How did it work out? I need some ideas.

I lost two Carver pieces in a garage fire, M500T amp and C1 pre-amp, 12 months ago.
Garage is rebuilt and most items have been replaced. One area I’m still having trouble with is the Carver items.

My “deluxe” Allstate policy pays for replacement.

I submitted $650 for the M500T (a bit high on the amp price, because I recently had my amp repaired- I figured $400 for used amp on Ebay and $250 for repair/update) and $350 for the C1 as replacement cost.

Allstate rejected my claim, explaining because there are no direct replacements for these items, IE – Carver is out of business, ETC. They offered $100 for each item.

I explained used models were still available thru Ebay and I would be happy to buy there, just as I had with the originals. They replied Ebay was not an acceptable source for pricing replacement items.

My next approach is to find current brand and model with specs equal to the Carver pieces.

So – I’m looking for suggestions from the group on what current brands and models that would be considered replacements.

Just don't accept a settlement.

Right now just ignore the low levels you are dealing with unless you need the $$.
Stay cool, be patience, and keep asking for a fair settlement.

In time they will offer more.
They do this everyday for a living. They are better at it than you. You cannot deal with the guys talking to you now.

It is sad, but true. Insurance companies are all assholes.

Just don't settle for less than you are due.

Adcom sells a new 2 channel amplifier @ 200 watts for $1200, the 555se. I'm sure there's a host of other current model "equivalents" over the $1k mark if they insist on a "new" replacement.

See if Tom at Vintagehifi in Pittsburgh is a acceptable business for the insurance company.

My total claim is over $110K. About $60K for the structure and about $50K in contents.

At the very beginning, I hired my own Insurance Adjuster. It's been hard for me to "teach" him about the value of vintage Carver / JBL audio componets.

Adcom is a good ides, I forgot about that line. I'll check them out.
Any other brand suggestions?

I would suggest you get a written price quote from Vintage Hi-Fi.

I lost $17,000 in audio equipment, Mostly Carver, back in 88 to an house fire. I never replaced any of it. Put it all into the new house because I had to pay a high priced attorney from Detroit $15,000 to prove Citizen Insurance Co. Wrong.

Let me know how this works out and whether or not they accept Tom's store as replacement value. This is very important to me, so please do not forget.

I think it's important info for all of us in a tragic event such as this !
