Carver CT-6 Preamp

The guy who sold me my TFM-45 amp through in a CT-6 preamp. I've tested it and everything works, but it's not getting any use because I'm using my Marantz 2245's preamp section. Is this preamp held in high regard, or was/is it mediocre in its time? Just kind of curious :-k

Re: Carver CT-6 Preamp

I have the professional brother (the PSC-60). For a 1U unit, it's OK. A lot of stuff crammed in there. I don't think I'd try to repair it if it broke.
It should sound like it isn't there!

Re: Carver CT-6 Preamp

I just did some A/B'ing with my Emotiva XDA-1 preamp vs. the CT-6. I won't go into details, but I'm probably going to kick down the CT-6 to my little sister :-#

Re: Carver CT-6 Preamp

I use the CT-6 on my outdoor system. Good nuff but not great.
In reality, it only matters what it sounds like to YOU!!!
