Swapped amps around...

and found that the best combination was running the M1.0t MKII .002 to the LF and the modified TFM-35 to the HF was the best, but really it was the TFM that smoothed out the MF/HF.... I would have never guessed that! I always thought the "t mod" amp would be the best for the Klipsch horns?

Only thing is that M1.0t is noisy!

Still waiting to get my Silver 7t fixed so I can give them a shot...

I also broke out my Carver CD and compared it to the NAD... can't tell any difference.

It has more transformer hum as well as a buzz through the speakers?

Try a 2 prong ground adapter- it may just be a ground loop.

The M-1.0t is only a 2 prong... might need a new transformer soon.

That would suck since I've used a handful of times since I purchased it....

Rita warned me a long time ago about the "hot rodded" amps. I know a lot of people here are quick to defend them but when you push anything way past the original design it only makes sense that reliability could become jepordized. I'm not saying that it's the mod specifically that has caused the damage, as amps wear out, untouched originals as well. Some of the M-1.0 amps are pushing 30 years old!

How would you know! It is probably sitting on a shelf/rack unplugged in a closet with all of the other Phase Linear, Sunfire, Lightstar and Carver museum pieces. Did I miss anything?

If it is sitting on a shelf collecting dust then chances are it has no hum... plugging it in may change things--:lol:

the mkII opt2 amp have almost all the transistors replaced with newer units. i have 35's that range from no hum in the transformers to some on others. i have a two 55's that have a very slight hum when turned on and one of them has low level noise. when i listened to the 1.0, i thought it was brighter if you will compared to the 55 or 35. i would bet that the 1.0 and some older cerwin vega's would just rock. also even with the mkII opt2, the voltage is only boosted around 10 volts.

Man, when you Mk.II an M-500(t) the rail voltage jumps 21 Volts.

On second test.... I can tell a difference and the SDA360 does sound better!

I can see you don't know Wayne. The guy is not old like us.
He has the muscle and energy to keep up with his collection, and his OCCD interest forces him to do that.
