My C-500 had some early problems, probably because it was the first amp Carver Corporation put out and mine was an early serial number. The had the power supply cap voltage too low, and it kept crapping out and taking some output devices with it. Once they upped the voltage on the caps to 95V (I now have 100V caps in there), the problems went away.
It should sound like it isn't there!
There is a difference between hearing and listening...
