They just Break

So today I fired the Ultimate one more time
Failed to cycle through on powerup
Followed the proceedure to reset

Display would not show anything
Used component TV view to reprogram
4 channels channels played but......
Running a 300 x 2 for side aux speakers
No joy on them no matter how I set it up

Oh and by the way....
No agenda
And leave my wife out of the dialogue
She would kick your ass pal

Mr3putt- do you have your amps protected electrically? Maybe you have a surge problem from power company or your line keeps getting hit by lightning..... I had 2 amps fried from lightning in the past then I got smart and got power conditioning gear.

I have never heard of a Carver or Sunfire amp just blowing up for no apparent reason.....Bob's circuits are designed to provide power like no other- unless you are spending 10x the money!

I have heard conflicting data on using power conditioning to front end Sunfire gear
One theory was that the current limiting protection of the PC might stress the transformer when the music required more headroom and the PC failed to deliver it on demand. Any risk in using a power conditioner?

I know my local power company sucks
How much for a decent unit that could handle an Ultimate and a 300x2?

My power back here in the woods gets blips. It used to drive me up the wall as I have a hydro dam 30 miles one way and a nuke station 40 miles the other way.

I bought a conditioner with battery back up.
It has been going strong for two years.
When it dies, will need another.

I've had more Carver amps than all my fingers and toes together and NOT ONE of them have ever failed me. Driven some of them really hard too. So hard as a matter of fact, the thermal overload protection circuitry would kick in ! I think your just having a bad run of luck mr3putt ! The 4 ohm load isn't doing the Carver amps any favor but they should handle it. I had, for awhile 3 M-500t's running the 4 ohm load from AL-III's and even though I couldn't get to concert level loud with them they sure sounded fine ! I didn't like how hot the 500's would get though even with spacing in between for cooling. I just didn't like running 25 year old amps that hard so I got rid of the speakers. Love my 500's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe you should at least consider a Sunfire amp before throwing in the towel on Carver ?

I have Never Ever had one Fail me! I have had a Carver amp since the Mid 80's and most of those years "3" amp's or more at a time!
They Just Never Break!

Bought my TFM 75 and two TFM-55X's new a long time ago and never had a problem. 75 ran my Plat 4's and 55Xs' run 18 pairs of speakers throughout the house, garage, wrap around porches and pool area. Dead reliable! Do run 4 power conditioners. Living in Florida, lots of afternoon thunderstorms, although Bob told me at last Carverfest not necessary. Hey, what do I know, other than they have served me well for close to two decades.
