No doubt about it, the mini-disk was cool!

Lightstar amps, and pre. Transporter, music server. Custom built speakers made for me to beat the shit out of, and a JL Earthquake Maker.
Don't know what else I could possibly want....
ditto.

Re: What would your dream system be?
I would keep my current system, though I would love to try some Wilsons speakers, MBL's speakers and some Nordost cables on my system. I have a couple of new upgrades for my system I will post them as I hook them up.

CARVER LIGHTSTAR REFERENCE+SUNFIRE CLASSIC TUBE PREAMPLIFIER+JBL XPL200+MUSIC HALL MMF-9.1+GRADO REFERENCE MASTER 1+CARVER SD/A 390t=WOW!!!!!!

I did butcher his post to make a point - forgive me.
Like him and many, I am happy with my junk as it plays the tunes really well.
Still, we want to tinker and make it better. That is what guys do.
At that point, (hopefully not before that point) we turn to things like cables and different tubes to refine things.

And then.....you get the "upgrade bug" and start all over!

I guess I would buy a house next to James place from all I would save from my "DREAM SYSTEM" and then show up on his Door step with some brews every now and then.

BillD, You will be forever with us! RIP until we meet again on the other side...

Re: What would your dream system be?
I have seen before. If I were to hit an extra 2K, I just get a tube preamplifier. Stupid rework truck, put it inside the tube ... I'm not a huge fan in charge of...
My dream system ?
A wife that you can't hear and a rockin' rig. Man, talk about synergy.
In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.

If cost was no issue and you could have a custom room tailored to your specifications, what would you have as your audio system? Any brand... it doesn't have to be Carver gear.
It can be a anykind of setup.. 2ch, Theater, etc..
This isn’t as easy a question to answer as you would think as there so much available But If money was no object I would build a Theater system that would include the following:
Audio
- Preamp - Onkyo PR-SC5508 AV
- Amplifier – Sunfire Theater Grand - TGA-7401
Speakers
- Martin Logan “CLX art” Speaker (Fronts) x2
- Martin Logan “Stage” Speaker (Front Center) x1
- Martin Logan “Descent I” subwoofers (Front and Back Center) x2
- Martin Logan “Voyage” Speaker (Surround Left, Right - Side and Back) x4
Video
- IGI 4K Powerwall 10x18 feet (Inherently 3D capable)
Sources
- Pioneer HLD-X9 Laserdisc Player
- Kaleidescape media sever with required raids and digital vaults
- Technics SL-1210MK5 Turntable
- SACD Player
I’ve never heard the Preamp and AMP so these could change depending on how they sound but I think this is the core of how my dream system would look if money were no object.
Main System Setup:
Pre: Carver C2 | Amp: Carver M-500t|Equilizer: Sansui SE99|Speakers: Polk SDA2’s
Source: Tuner: Carver TX-2| Phono: Technics SL-1210 MkII with a Ortofon VMS 20E Mk II| DirecTV DVR | Pioneer HLD-X9 Laserdisc player | Samsung DVD/VHS player
Second System Setup:
Receiver: Yamaha RXV867| Fronts: Klipsch F-30's |Sub: Klipsch SW-112
Source: Radio |Internet/Network | Sony CDP-70 CD player

Re: What would your dream system be?
Kind of a modest turntable. I'd probably go for something like the Clearaudio Maximum Solution turntable and Master TQ-I linear tracking tonearm (shown retracted into the vertical position for LP access).

It should sound like it isn't there!
