Re: Un frigin believable!

I talked to Rich...

Sending the amp back to him for evaluation and repairs.

I also revisited that whole transformer argument and although it gets a bit over MY head.. it seems as though there is some solid information and measurement as to why it's NOT a problem. I don't find much, other than opinion indicating that it COULD be an issue on these amps? In this case... I think it was the roll of the dice.

"You leave me no choice Ed."

Thanks, M-500t; I needed that!

But seriously, please Hrdrokn, keep us all posted on the transformer thing. My guess is that it's an "anomaly" and not indicative of any inherent "design flaw".

So the M1.0 was a no-go with either pre and I'm a bit afraid of trying it again!

Well I sent the amp off to RichP and the amp worked fine? Then later that day he flexed the chassis and found the problem.... looks like a bad solder joint. So I'm having the bias pivot mod done (I originally purchased this amp before he came up with that mod) while the amp is there and she should be back in buisness!

I had to send the new tube pre back... there was a cosmetic flaw in the chrome chassis, right next to the volume control of all places! So while that gets resolved I hooked the CT28v back up and after getting the jumpers in the EQ loop "correctly" I played some music..... :-s

There is quite a bit of difference... the tubes had warmth, felt like you were in the music, more detail and the instruments seem to be in harmony (if that makes any damn sense)

I havent played any music all week... Un frigin believable!
