Rolland will make it better than new. He is working on the cross overs for my silvers and my pair of silver 7t's . He has been great to work with on previous amp repairs.

It is always good to keep these amps up to spec so they will continue to deliver music to our ears.

I don't want to dish on Roland, I have heard very good things about his work, but have you considered someone who is closer and an active member of this board to do your repair?

Hello everyone, Rolland here from Carver Service / Hi-tech Audio
Its great to stop in and say hi to everyone. Please remember we are still doing 100% restoration meaning 100% electrolytic capacitor replacement including the power supply with a low ERS array for quicker recovery, hand matched resistors in the critical gain stages to assure absolute perfect channel balance that will never drift as the factory units will drift in time. Just a note to all our customers and potential new customers we service the entire line of Carver products not just a few, and still have all the OEM semiconductor compliment for the product not to mention the impossible to find CD player parts. Are rates are the same as they have been for years but we do have some nice upgrades available such as polypropylene bypass capacitors in the signal path, the low ERS array, not to mention IEC-14 receptacle options. there are many more modifications we offer but feel free to call for details. We will be running some specials in the fall on power amplifier upgrades. Thanks again for all your business we work hard to keep our customers happy and there gear running reliably for decades to come. Thanks again. Sincerely. Rolland
Thanks for all the support, it's greatly appreciated, and it's a privilege to work on such great equipment. If I don't reply to your questions, you are not being ignored, I do not frequent the forum very often, due to our huge work load.

"hand matched resistors in the critical gain stages to assure absolute perfect channel balance that will never drift as the factory units will drift in time."

I can attest to that! The "Rollandized" TFM-42 that I bought from FrankieD several years ago is still "balanced".....and sounding great. Well worth re-furbing these amps (especially the 42/45's) as they will drift off spec and not sound good.....especially if they don't have the damping adjust service bulletin drift fix done!

I believe Rolland "burns them in" as part of the c/o process....
It will sound as great as it ever will the day you receive it from Rolland...

I thought all repair shops did that? Isn't that SOP?

Now the big question, Rolland wanted to know if I wanted him to upgrade to Polypropylene bypass capacitors for a extra $65 and if I wanted to do a power supply upgrade for $ 45. well, you guys are the experts, tell what you think!!! thanks, frenchguy:-)

What's involved in the power supply upgrade? I'd also need to know what caps he's bypassing to render any opinion on that one (I'm not a fan of bypass caps).
It should sound like it isn't there!

What would Polypropylene bypass capacitors do for you anyway? I’m assuming these would replace the capacitors that came installed in the amp or are these added on somehow? :-k
