I have a CT-6 (PSC-60) that is the same thickness (1U). Think of a sonic holography preamp AND a tuner stuffed into that box and you'll realize that the circuit density is such that repair is almost impossible. Even without the tuner, the switching is all electronic, as are most of the controls (electronic potentiometers). It does have a nice motorized volume control.
If you're cramped for space, this might be a good way to go. If you have space, I'd probably go another way. However, you might like the convenience of remote control.
It should sound like it isn't there!
