Tfm55?

I am currently running two TFM24's to power my Carver AL111's. I have an opportunity to pick up a TFM55 for around $500.00.Will it be an improvement over the 24's and is it worth the $.

Thanks

Re: Tfm55?

I was not sure that one amp meaning the 55 would be better than the two 24's. What kind of improvement should I hear. I listen to everything from jazz to blues to rock.

The 55 is a true magnetic field amp unlike the 24's. If you can supply the amperage with a dedicated circuit the difference will be very noticeable if you have revealing source and speakers. I have 3 and have compared them to the TFM-25 of my friends. No contest.

Re: Tfm55?

I've had both but never side by side. The 760x is very powerful but not as musical in my opinion, same with all the THX amps, kind of flat sounding but very clean and powerful. I think they're so clean that it takes some of the life away.

Re: Tfm55?

No argument there angelo! In fact there's a 300x2 on Audiogon right now for $600. I've been very tempted to "upgrade" my brothers birthday present at that price! ](*,) ](*,)
