Carver M1.0t paired with a AV-705x

I am curious to hear the opinions of owners of the 1.0t amp. I am hoping to acquire one to run my LSi 15's and possibly another to run my LSiC from while I send my AV-705x amp to the shop to get refurbished.

I tried to do a search on this site, but searching M1.0t wont work and searching Carver M1 didnt really help either lol...

I am probably NOT going to do the MKII upgrade to either M1.0t but would potentially get them given the once over at a later date as well. My LSi's will have just the right amount of power from them without hotrodding them.

Anyone see a problem with pairing the 1.0t with the 705x? To start with I would be running the center off the 705x and then hopefully after some of my car audio stuff sells another 1.0t.

Also anyone ever paired a M series amp with a set of Maggies? Thinking about possibly another set to drive some MMG's or 1.6/1.7's

I've had the M-1.0t and liked it, lots here seemed to think they're better suited for subwoofer action. I would keep an eye out for the newer, A-400x to match your 705x. Same power rating as the M-1.0t but 15- 20 years newer. Plus, they're kind of "sleeper" amps and usually sell pretty cheap, mainly because of the lack of meters, plain-jane looking but same great sound as the larger versions. Good Luck!

Gracias. Its looking like my budget is around 250 so hopefully that can put me in 1.0t or whatever amp I need territory lol.....

The first A-400x I bought was near mint, paid less then $200 shipped off eBay. A friend of mine still has it and uses it everyday, great little amp. When I bought that amp I was running a 760x (380 wpc) in my main system. I swapped them out and could not hear a difference between the two, ended up selling the 760x after that.

Yeah, I couldnt do a advanced search for that model and return any results . I will keep looking as you are correct, it looks just like my 705x. Does it also have those gay THX knobs on the back?

No gain controls, looks exactly like the TFM-35x on the rear panel, top covers are even universal. Found this thread:

It's my understanding that the A series amps had more output devices....any truth to that?

Maybe on the larger amps. There's 2 less per channel on the A-400x then the 35x but it's also rated 50 watts less per channel. That was the main difference I could see between the two models, otherwise near identical inside.
