Ever make a DD or DTS Pre-amp?

Post by pmindemann » Wed Apr 14, 2004 10:00 am

Hello. I am new to the group.

I had a quick question (sorry if this has come up previously)... has Carver ever created a Dolby Digital and/or DTS capable preamp/processor?

I have an old copy of "Home Theater" magazine stating that one was to come out (this was around '97) but I don't recall ever seeing one.

Was it ever released?

Well if you want a current DD or DTS processor, Sunfire makes them. Sunfire is a Bob Carver creation but doesn't carry the Carver name on their products.

Thanks for the advice. Actually, I was hoping to find an older DD/DTS Carver unit that perhaps would should up on the used market. The Sunfire stuff is pretty pricey...

Hello Pmindemann,

Yes indeed CARVER did near the end make a Dolby Decoder
called a Carver DD5.1 unit.

These are a rare find now days but they do appear on EBAY
from time to time. Apparently around 200 units were made.

I have two of them and they go well! if you ever get one and
even if not going, let me know as I have parts and Circuits for
these rare fellows.
