Best 2 chnl amp

Whats most folks opinion as far as Carvers best 2 channell amp,I recenly bought a TFM22,its the same amp as the TFM25,only it has lihgts instead of gauges, its rated 225wpc,its good but not a heck of lot better than my receiver did,its a Denon DRA685,rated 100wpc...2 channell also. This is my first amp so Im not sure if I will keep it,got it cheap,I may buy a couple more to see which suits me,perhaps a m1.5,or TFM45,give me your thoughts :-k

Carver amps

I have tried a few carver amplifiers coupled with a carver CT28 preamp and an HR895 receiver and have always gone back to my HR895 receiver and the TFM45 amplifier for the front main speakers. The TFM45 is a better sounding amplifier than all models under it in number but keep in mind some had problems. Shut down thumps, buzzing and flickering meter lights to name a few. The amplifier has more of a tube sound and coupled to the right speakers you have reached the end. Keep in mind though the preamp you use does make all the difference as well. I couldn't tell the difference in sound even after listening to $5000. mono amps! The TFM25 amplifier is a good choice for your surround speakers though and some may be happy with it for the mains but not I. Since then I've upgraded to the Carver 760 amplifier which has the same sound you would find in the TFM45 and 55 but doesn't seem to have the engineering flaws that the early amps had. The main speakers I've been using are the Definitive BP20's and either a Velodyne 1215 sub or DefPF12 will do the job in a 12x28 room. You don't want to go too large with the subs and speakers keeping in mind how the room will interact with the sound your trying to achieve. Hope this helps.

For what it's worth there Big Al, TFM-45, TFM-42, and M4.0t are all the exact same amp.

Try getting a better preamp than CT-28 or the preamp stage of your HR-895, and you may realize JUST how good that TFM-45 can sound.

Engineering flaws in the TFM 45??? I've never experienced those sorts of issues with mine.....

If you can, I'd recommend picking up a pair of Silver 9t's. Those would be my faves.

At least he's not grabbing at people's wallets Scott. Why can't you forgive us for trying to alert all of humanity to your schemes, rip-offs, ETC. ETC.?

Folks, don't deal with this clown, pure and simple, cut and dry. He will soon post just how PROUD he is, to be who, and what he is. Happens every time. Some kind of thought processing defect for sure.

Scott, I think I'll say so long NOW, cause I don't think you're going to be long at THIS forum. We'll see you on the next one, and we'll expose you there too!

Your old pal George
