Where did TFM-55 post in this thread??? I've looked at every entry twice and see no sign of any comment at all on his part. Can you please point out what post yuo are referring to?

Well, now it is official. HD-DVD is dead. Toshiba has thrown in the towel. Let us all observe a moment of silence for the passing of the format.

Sony finally won one .... I wonder how much it cost them!

Wal-Mart did Toshiba in when they announced they would only stock and sell Blu-ray titles. 48 hours later Toshiba threw in the towel and their stock jumped 6 percent!

More good news for PS3 owners – the system software update version 2.3 availible April 10th adds DTS-HD Master Audio output for Blu-ray videos, which means the high-definition visuals of Blu-ray will now be matched with the highest quality audio for the ultimate movie-watching experience on PS3.

DTS-HD Master Audio is literally bit-for-bit identical to the studio master recording. The technology delivers audio at the incredibly high rate of 24.5 mega-bits per second (Mbps) on Blu-ray disc, which is significantly higher than standard DVDs. DTS-HD Master Audio also offers 7.1 audio channels at 96k sampling frequency/24 bit depths, so you’ll be totally immersed in the sound. The firmware update will add DTS-HD High Resolution Audio as well, which is a similar output technology that requires less disc space.

Currently the $1000 Sony BDP-S1 Blue-ray player is not capable of decoding DTS-HD High Resolution Audio or DTS-HD Master Audio.

The PS3 is truly a work of art, at an incredible price...

For those of you with HD DVD collections AND desktop PC's ....you might want to pick up one of these for LESS than 20 bucks

I have been in on Beta,Laserdisc,DAT,HDTV, but I am sitting this one out which is kinda funny since I have had an HDTV since 2001

Ill tell ya how I solved it... I went and got a LG BH-100 off eprey for 300 bucks and LOVE it. I can watch whatever format I want and the its a helluva nice player all around. Heavy, solid built. Retailed for like 1000-1100 bucks! Great picture and sound on blu rays...



And Yes I agree HD DVD is DEAD, or atleast dying. And I got burnt on it... shortly before I got my LG I went out and got a new HDA3
