Suddenly my 490t cd player does not open the cd tray....

Usually it has stretched out and is slipping so it needs to be replaced. The elastic bands are easily available in the US and really cheap, but so is original replacement belt which costs only a few bucks. I donT' happen to have the supplier for the original belts handy but I can look for it.
Also, there is a post that explains the procedure and evenone that shows a clear pisture of what you are dealign with somewhere on here in the Repari thread

BE VERY CAREFUL !!! Do not force the drawer closed.. there is a small piece of plastic in the back that can break off, then it will never open right again....

If you have the hand-held remote control for the CD changer, Manos, you could try using the "open/close" button to see if that operates the door (in case the open/close button on the CD player itself could be at fault.) Otherwise it seems the rubber band/belt is the usual problem on this unit.

I did it and now works fine. By the way i have change the lamps and the sound is mach much much better. The old ones were from Yugoslavia. The new are Sylvania.
